The Mute Messiah is a bilingual theatre piece in British Sign Language and spoken English, blending verbatim theatre and dark comedy to follow a young mute woman navigating the UK’s benefits system. Through a sharp social-satirical lens and a wild cast of characters, the play explores the absurd, heartfelt, humiliating, and uplifting realities faced by young people within the system, centring themes of resilience, class struggle, solidarity, and survival.
